Sun Blinds Inc. (“Sun Blinds”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you visit our websites, contact us, or use our services (consultations, measurements, installations, after-sales support).

This Policy follows applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, Alberta PIPA and BC PIPA.

2) What we collect

We collect the minimum information needed to provide quotes, schedule visits, manufacture/install custom blinds, and support you.

Information you provide directly

  • Contact details (name, email, phone, address, city/region).
  • Project details (window counts/sizes, product interests, style, budget, timelines).
  • Communications (emails, calls, texts, messages through our forms).
  • Business details for commercial projects (company name, site contacts).
  • Payment-related information if applicable (handled via invoicing or third-party processors; we do not store full card numbers).

Information collected automatically (online)

  • Technical data from your device: IP address, browser type/version, pages viewed, time/date, referring/exit pages, approximate location, and similar diagnostics.
  • Cookies and similar technologies are used for essential site functions, performance/analytics, and (if enabled) marketing/retargeting.

Information from third parties

  • Referral partners (designers/contractors) who you have asked to connect us.
  • Public sources (e.g., business directories) for legitimate B2B outreach.

3) How we use your information (purposes)

  • Quoting & consultations: to respond to inquiries, schedule free in-home/site visits, and prepare proposals.
  • Manufacture, delivery & installation: to measure, fabricate, deliver, and install products; to coordinate access and timelines.
  • Customer service & warranty: to provide support, handle adjustments/repairs, and honour warranties.
  • Business operations: to manage records, accounting, auditing, training, and quality assurance.
  • Safety & legal: to prevent fraud, ensure site/worker safety, and comply with laws or enforce agreements.
  • Marketing (consent-based): to send offers, updates, or promotions. You can opt out anytime (see Section 8).

We rely on your consent (express or implied, as permitted) and on purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate under PIPEDA/AB PIPA/BC PIPA. You may withdraw consent at any time (Section 8), subject to legal or contractual limits.

4) Cookies & similar technologies

We use:

  • Essential cookies (site functionality, security).
  • Analytics cookies (to understand site performance and improve content).
  • Advertising/retargeting pixels (used only if enabled with consent).

5) When we share information

6) Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, and as required by law (e.g., tax/audit). When no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information (access controls, need-to-know, secure storage, and safeguards with vendors). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to continually improve our controls.

8) Your choices & rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Withdraw consent for future uses (e.g., marketing).
  • Opt out of marketing emails/SMS by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us.

We will respond within the timeframes set by Canadian privacy laws. We may need to verify your identity and may be unable to provide certain information where legal exemptions apply.

9) Children’s privacy

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to us, contact us, and we will delete it.

10) International transfers

Some service providers may process or store information outside your province or outside Canada. As a result, your information may be subject to foreign laws and access by foreign authorities. We use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to such transfers.

12) Updates to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to our practices or legal requirements. We will post the revised Policy with a new “Effective date” and, where required, notify you.

13) Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

We send commercial electronic messages (emails/SMS) only with your consent or as otherwise permitted by CASL. Messages identify Sun Blinds and include an unsubscribe mechanism. You can opt out at any time using the link in the message or by contacting us.

14) Do Not Track

Your browser may offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal; there is no common industry standard for responding to DNT. We treat it like other preference signals and continue to evaluate emerging standards.
