Cracked or Bent Blinds:

If you are rough with window blinds, then they might get bent or cracked, especially around pets and children. However, the best part is that a single damaged blind does not need repair of the whole window panel. One can easily fix it. If you have an extra slat, then remove the cracked blinds and replace them with the new ones. In case you do not have an extra slat, then follow these steps.

  1. Remove the plugs, with the help of a screwdriver, at the bottom of the window blind that covers the thicker centre string.
  2. Carefully untie the knot and remove the lift string for now.
  3. Remove the bent or cracked blind and insert the new one. Now it's time to rethread the lift string by maintaining the slats in position.
  4. Push the string back through the base and tie each side at the same length.
  5. Now you can put the plugs in and secure them with rubber mallets.

Stuck or jammed window blinds:

Do not apply force to the jammed window blinds. It might lead to breakage so instead follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that all the blinds are aligned in a uniform position, and tucked behind one another.
  2. Use silicone spray in the linings of the vertical window blinds.
  3. Open and close the blinds and allow the silicone spray to coat evenly.

This is enough, as it would start working soon.

Blinds with broken lift cord:

One of the most important parts of a window blind is a lift cord. Without a cord, it is impossible to open and close a window blind. A lift cord can be easily replaced by following certain steps. You can easily get one at the local store.

  1. First, take out the blinds and place them on a surface. Now pull the lift cord.
  2. Cut the cord and pull the discarded one through the last bar.
  3. Join the new and old cords by glueing their tips.
  4. Now hang the blinds and pull the new cord through the pathway. Take the cord through the headbox and slats. Now with the other hand, pull the old lift cord. When the splice is taken out of the headbox, guide the new lift cord to the last bar, undo the splice and join the plastic pull to the new cord.
